ORC Week 1 - MidMod Inspired Bathroom Design

I am so excited to be joining the One Room Challenge Spring 2022. "The One Room Challenge® is a biannual event every spring and fall. Everyone with a blog or Instagram account is welcome to join the fun as a Guest Participant by registering for the event with the room or space you plan to transform. Registration typically opens about a month prior to the event, and a link to the registration form can be found on this site or our Instagram page once it is open."

Be sure to check out the other participant rooms here: www.oneroomchallenge.com/orc-blog. This is such a great community and I am so honored to be joining so many talented individuals as we endeavor to complete our rooms in the 8 week timeline.

Each week I will give an update either on my blog or on my instagram page @crysleedesign so follow along for the journey!

This first week I am sharing the design.

Here is our room starting point:

Framing, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing have all been roughed in. We are using a shower tray instead of a tile base. This will be my first time tiling a shower so we wanted to keep it simple.

Challenges of this space. The ceiling is super low here because almost all the plumbing for house is run through this room and it is a basement. This means the ceiling in this space is only 78" or 6.6 ft tall!!! A lot of my design choices have been made to help this space feel bigger than it is.

Here is the plan:

General Bathroom to do:

  • Drywall & Texture,

  • Level Floor

  • Paint walls and ceilings

  • Add door and trim

  • Add baseboards

Vanity Toilet Area

  • Install wall paper

  • Tile and grout floor

  • Install - Vanity, Faucet, Toilet, Mirror, & Sconces

  • Build shelf above toilet

  • Frame art

Shower Area

  • Install shower niche

  • Waterproofing

  • Tile/Grout Shower

  • Build shelf

  • Hang Hooks

  • Add baseboards

I have my work cut out for me. There are so many things I have never done before, but I am excited to learn.

I will share links at the end once I have finalized all the items. This design has already changed several times due to delayed shipping timelines and backordered items. I know whatever we end up with will be beautiful!
